It’s often interesting to find out where and how authors get their ideas and material. On her author site, Daniella Levy describes some of the background she used in writing By Light of Hidden Candles; and I think this goes some way towards understanding how the book came out as good as it did!
She writes:
I think all fiction is autobiographical to a degree, in that you’re drawing on your own experiences, on questions that you have thought about or struggled with on some level, and also you’re drawing on characters–people that you’ve met and their stories, and lots of different stories that you’ve encountered.
Daniella goes on to discuss intermarriage, interfaith friendship, grief and loss, and getting stuck in Barcelona with not kosher food. Read the full post here: https://daniella-levy.com/en/real-life-experiences-influenced-light-hidden-candles/
