New Selected Poems
By Charles Adès Fishman
After a week of heavy rain
the beach was an archipelago
I would explore each captured islet
Cast adrift, I would be shipwreck
and mariner and waded in deep,
my feet trolling the bottom
I would learn each dune and lake
I would dream the world new again
as it was in the wake of the glacier.
Charles Adès Fishman’s In the Wake of the Glacier: New Selected Poems brings together work from eight earlier books, including poems that were written as long ago as 1968 and as recently as 2017. This timely and far-reaching collection also includes 41 previously uncollected poems and 9 new ones that underscore this poet’s passionate love of nature, family, history, and justice.
