Media Kit – By Light of Hidden Candles

February 7, 2018 by Yael Radlauer

In a mud hut in the Jewish Quarter of 16th-century Fez, a dying woman hands her granddaughter a heavy gold ring—and an even heavier secret.

By Light of Hidden Candles tells the story of two college students—one an American Jew of Sephardic descent, the other a Catholic Spaniard—who team up to research their families’ respective histories, only to discover that their pasts are inextricably linked. As their research progresses and their friendship deepens—perhaps a little more than it should—the story of their ancestors in late 15th-century Spain unfolds: a Jewish family that runs into trouble with the Spanish Inquisition, and the Christian family that comes to their aid. It’s a tale of sacrifice and courage, of the search for inner truth, and of defying and defining boundaries between worlds.

KasvaPress is a family-owned publisher based in Alfe Menashe Israel, with a U.S. Headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota. We publish from 2-5 books each year. Our authors write about Jewish issues, women’s rights, and minority interests. They come from all over the world and from all races and religions.

We believe that a book transmits more than information; it is a means to extend human memory from the distant past into the foreseeable future. As such we take pride in the memories that we hand on to future generations.
