Author information

Ed Codish

Ed Codish was born in New York City in 1940 and grew up in the Bronx and Camden, NJ. He studied with Ike Traschen and George Starbuck, receiving his BA from NYU and his MFA from the Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa. He taught at universities in the US and Israel and at Jewish day schools in Michigan and Massachusetts.

His poems have appeared in numerous Israeli journals and newspapers, including arc, The Jerusalem Post, Iton 77, Shdemot, Jerusalem Quarterly, as well as international publications such as Mosaic (US), Whitewater (US), Argo (UK), and Storie (Italy). A number of his poems also appeared in the anthology of Jewish verse Voices Within the Ark. In addition to his own poetry, he has translated much Hebrew poetry into English.

Ed Codish writes and publishes essays on the religious philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas and other topics, and writes a daily post on current events. He lives in Pardesiya, Israel, with his wife, Susann.
